Double Cove Bunkhouse - Orcas Island

Nestled among mature trees on a challenging site, a new bunkhouse provides much-needed guest space for an existing Orcas Island waterfront compound. The design works with the steep topography, providing drive-up guest accommodations on the upper level, and an owner’s office and exercise studio below. The main focus is views of the water and nearby ferry terminal, but windows and patios are situated to enjoy the surrounding forest. Large overhangs protect the circulation between levels, with rain chains highlighting the seasonal rains.
